West girls win meet

West Davidson’s girls edged Carson for the Misenheimer Invitational championship at Pfeiffer University on Friday.
West won with 300 points, followed by Carson, 277, Brown, 264, and Mooresville, 212. Winners for the Dragons were Taylor Blankenship, Rachel Hamrick, Taylor Koonts and Savannah Newsome (200 medley relay); Katherine Fletcher (200 free and 500 free); Koonts (200 IM and 100 fly); Newsome (100 free); Blankenship (100 back); and Newsome, Koonts, Jasmine Mayhorne and Fletcher (200 free relay).
West’s boys finished second; A.L. Brown won with 341 points, West had 317, Carson (243), Mooresville (175). Garrett Spake won the 500 free for the Dragons.
West will host Central Davidson and East Davidson at the J. Smith Young YMCA on Tuesday.
