Central sweeps tri-meet

Central Davidson’s boys and girls swept a three-team meet at the J. Smith Young YMCA on Tuesday.
In the boys’ meet, Central won with 139 points, followed by West, 116, and East Davidson, 36.
Winners for Central were Lucas Rhodes, Jonathan Hench, Connor Sturgill and Logan Hammond (200 medley relay); Rhodes (200 free, 500 free); Hammond (50 free); Sturgill (100 fly); and Hammond, Adam Amende, Sturgill and Rhodes (400 free relay).
Winners for West were Job Spake (200 IM, 100 breast); Garrett Spake (100 free, 100 back); Daniel Sharpe, Andrew Sink, Phoenix Gaddy and Job Spake (200 free relay).
Sturgill broke the school record in the 100 fly, the 200 medley relay team eclipsed the school record.
In the girls’ meet, Central won with 114 points, followed by West, 92, and East Davidson, 69. Winners for West were Taylor Blankenship, Rachel Hamrick, Taylor Koonts and Jasmine Mayhorn (200 medley relay); Blankenship (200 free); Koonts (200 IM, 100 fly); Katherine Fletcher (50 free, 500 free); Hamrick (100 breast); and Fletcher, Blankenship, Hamrick and Koonts (400 free relay).
Winners for East were Marina Moore (100 free, 100 back); and Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Carly Murphy, Shanna Welch and Moore (200 free relay);
