Jackets slip past Dragons


Lexington pulled out a tough 37-36 victory over West Davidson on a tiebreaker in Tyro on Friday.


For Lexington, Allen Palomares (113), Trenton Anderson (126), Demetrius Alston (132), Danford Carpenter (138) and Michael McCrae (heavyweight) won by pin. Trailing by three heading into the final match, Darel Martin Jr. (160) won an 8-2 decision to tie the score. Because Lexington won seven matches to West’s six, the Jackets won.


Lexington improved to 1-1 in the CCC, 5-7 overall, and the Jackets host Salisbury on Friday.

Bulldogs win two


Thomasville swept a three-team meet at Thomasville Middle School on Friday.


In the first match, the Bulldogs beat East Davidson 49-30 in Central Carolina Conference action.


Winners for the Bulldogs in the first match were Quahiygee Martin (106), Jason Voutsady (113), Tay Dupree (120), Corbin Wilson (126), Aaron Reeves (152), Gabe Brockett (160), Sharaun Mouzone (195), Ryan Broadie (220) and heavyweight Jordan Hagens.
Robbie White (132), Tyler Rhodes (138), Brad Hutchins (145), Asa Bohannon (170) and Logan Ware (182) won for the Eagles.
In the second match, Thomasville dominated Graham 71-3. Martin (106), Voutsady (113), Dupree (120), Brett Hokenson (132), Kendrick Ragin (138), Luke Williams (145), Reeves (152), Brockett (160), Antonie Brisano (170), Nikko Weeman (182), Mouzone (195), Broadie (220) and Tyberious Love (heavyweight) all won for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-0 in the CCC, 19-7 overall. Broadie’s win against Graham marked the 100th victory of his career.


In the final match, Graham defeated East 52-24. Rhodes (138), Williams (160) and Bohannon (170) all won by pin, and Hutchins (145) won by forfeit.


The Eagles, now 1-1 in the CCC, 5-12 overall, wrestle at Central Davidson on Thursday. Thomasville will wrestle at the Bobby Lloyd Invitational at High Point Andrews on Saturday.

Central drops heartbreaker


Salisbury edged Central Davidson 38-37 by tiebreaker in a Central Carolina Conference match at Central on Friday.
Winners for Central were Nathan Propst (106), Richie Acord (132), Christian Pompey (138), Chris Moore (160), Alex Gallaher (195), Jake Smith (220) and Jacob Comer (heavyweight).


The Spartans, now 0-2 in the league, 7-10 overall, will wrestle in the Bobby Lloyd Invitational at High Point Andrews on Saturday.

Cougars slip past Ledford


Southwestern Randolph defeated Ledford 36-32 in a Mid-Piedmont Conference match at Ledford on Friday.


Tyler Hinch (120), Ricky Hall (182) and Josh Vivod (220) won by pin for the Panthers, who fell to 2-1 in the league, 22-9 overall. Conner Sherrill (106), Ashan Butt (113), Austin DeBerry (126) and Shabaz Butt (138) all won by decision.


In junior varsity action, Ledford dropped a 45-33 decision to the Cougars.
Justin Johnson (106), Will Anthony (126), Trevor Starnes (145), Theron Hicks (182), Lupe Cevantes (220) and heavyweight Gage Gagner picked up wins for the Panthers, who fell to 5-1. Ledford wrestles at Glenn on Saturday.
