West sweeps meet
West Davidson’s boys and girls swept a three-team Central Carolina Conference meet at the J. Smith Young YMCA on Tuesday.
In the girls’ meet, West won with a score of 118, followed by Lexington, 110, and East Davidson, 63.
Winners for West were Taylor Blankenship, Grace Baird, Taylor Koonts and Katherine Fletcher (200 medley relay), Baird (200 free, 500 free), Koonts (200 IM, 100 back), Fletcher (100 fly); Blankenship, Jasmine Mayhorne, Savannah Newsome and Fletcher (200 free relay); and Fletcher, Koonts, Baird and Newsome (400 free relay).
For East, Marina Moore won the 50 free and 100 free, and Lexington’s Katie Dezego won the 100 breast.
West’s boys won with a score of 119, followed by Lexington, 79, and East, 62.
Winners for West were Job Spake (200 free); Phoenix Gaddy (50 free); Garrett Spake (500 free); Gaddy, Layton Bryant, Braxton Baird and Daniel Sharpe (200 free relay).
Winners for Lexington were Cole Riggan, Adam Wetherell, Griffin Gray and Patrick Dezego (200 medley relay); Riggan (200 IM, 100 back); Gray (100 fly); Wetherell (100 breast); and Dezego, Gray, Riggan and Wetherell (400 free relay).
East’s Preston Gammons won the 100 free.
West’s boys and girls finished the regular season at 10-2. They will compete in the conference championship meet Jan. 25 at the Salisbury YMCA.
