The North Davidson girls sizzled in the second half against Davie County, knocking down five of their eight 3-pointers in the final two periods to pull away for a convincing 60-46 victory and their first home victory of the season.
“That was a nice second half,” said North coach Kendra Puckett, whose team is now 2-3 in the CPC, 5-12 overall. “We finally hit some shots tonight, and a lot of 3-pointers. That’s not characteristically our team at all.
“They’re playing with confidence right now and something’s just finally clicking,” said Puckett. “They’re buying into a lot of things, but mostly they’re buying into themselves right now.”
North held a 29-24 lead at the half, thanks to the play of Ivy Kiker, who had 11 of her 16 total points by the intermission.
Kiker then opened the third period with a 3-pointer, and moments later Samantha Honeycutt knocked down two more treys as North extended its lead to 50-34 by the end of the period.
Davie County had 100 percent of its offense come from 25 percent of its eight-man roster as Amy Stiller scored 34 points and Laura Shelton added 12 points.
North Davidson travels to Reagan on Friday.
