South boys, girls keep rolling


South Davidson’s boys cruised to an 86-46 Yadkin Valley Conference victory at South Stanly on Wednesday.


Austin Hatfield led the way for the Wildcats with 28 points, Wil Collins added 20 and Taylor Hatfield scored 12. Daniel Cook added 10.


South moved to 9-2 in the league, 15-4 overall.


In the girls’ game, South Davidson outscored South Stanly 14-6 in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 59-36 victory over South Stanly.


Larsen Sigmon paced the Wildcats with 16 points and five steals, Madi Beeson pumped in 16 points, and Madison Sigmon had 10.


South moved to 9-2 in the YVC, 12-6 overall.


The Wildcats host Chatham Central on Friday.

Sheets beats buzzer for victory


Tanner Wilhoit took an inbounds pass with one second left and banked in a shot from 12 feet out to lift the Sheets Memorial Christian School boys to a thrilling 48-47 victory over Davidson County Home Educators on Tuesday.


Down by one with one second remaining, Wilhoit curled around a three-man screen and found an opening in the Davidson defense. Wilhoit paced the Eagles with 22 points, and Kent Johansen added 11.


Will Vest led Davidson with 17 points, Cameron Beck scored 14 and Shea Ivey 12.


Sheets, now 3-12, hosts Union Grove on Thursday.
