Ledford leads after first day

Ledford holds the overall team lead after the first day of the 3-A Midwest regional at Ledford on Friday.

The Panthers finished the first day with 50 points, just ahead of Jay M. Robinson (47) and Southwestern Randolph (47).

Tyler Hinch (120), Austin DeBerry (126), Andrew Chappell (132), Shabaz Butt (138) and Josh Vivod (220) went 2-0 and advanced to Saturday’s semifinals. Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Ledford.

Tysinger moves on for North

North Davidson’s Cody Tysinger won his first match and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 4-A Midwest regional Friday at Kernersville Glenn.

Tysinger (182), Jeremy Hill (145), Cody Downs (170) and heavyweight Alex Cave all won their first matches for the Knights.

Gabriel White (113), Jan Pabon (152), Taylor Richardson (160) and Bryson Starling (220) lost their first matches but won in the consolation round to stay alive and move on to Saturday.
