Eleven county prep basketball teams make state playoffs

Eleven county prep basketball teams — four boys teams and seven girls teams — qualified for the state playoffs, which begin with first round action on Monday.

 

In the boys 2-A Midwest, No. 3 Lexington hosts No. 14 Thomasville in a matchup of Central Carolina Conference archrivals and No. 8 Central Davidson hosts No. 9 Starmount.

 

In the boys 1-A Midwest, No. 4 South Davidson hosts No. 13 Bishop McGuinness.

 

In the girls 2-A Midwest, No. 5 Thomasville hosts No. 12 Cuthbertson, No. 13 Central Davidson goes to No. 4 Bandys, No. 10 Lexington is at No. 7 Forest Hills and No. 16 East Davidson is at No. 1 North Stanly.

 

In the girls 1-A Midwest, No. 3 South Davidson hosts No. 14 South Stanly, a Yadkin Valley Conference rival.

 

In the girls 3-A Midwest, No. 2 Ledford is at home against No. 15 A.L. Brown.

 

In the girls 4-A Midwest, No. 11 North Davidson travels to No. 6 Richmond County.

 

Winners will advance to Wednesday's second round.
