Thomasville girls cruise
Jashana Thomas scored 18 points as No. 5 Thomasville whipped No. 12 Cuthbertson 50-30 in the first round of the 2-A state playoffs Monday night in Thomasville.
Jocelyn Spires had nine points and Alexis Lambert eight for the Bulldogs.
Thomasville (17-6) visits No. 4 Bandys for a second round game Wednesday.
Bandys overwhelms Central girls
Sophomore guard Madi Story erupted for 43 points as No. 4 Bandys overwhelmed No. 13 Central Davidson 97-46 in the first round of the 2-A state playoffs Monday night in Catawba.
Taylor Sigmon added 15 points for Bandys and Jessie Story had 14.
MacKenzie Burkhart led Central (15-10) with 14 points and Chandler Young had 10.
Lexington falls to Forest Hills
Tenth-seeded Lexington fell 61-55 to seventh-seeded Forest Hills in the first round of the 2-A state playoffs Monday night in Marshville.
Alexis Fowler led Lexington (12-11) with 18 points while D’Necia Ausborne had 17 and Chariti Wall 11.
East ousted by North Stanly
Top-seeded North Stanly overran No. 16 East Davidson 60-30 in the first round of the 2-A state playoffs Monday night in New London. No further details were available.
East ended the season with a 12-13 record.
