West tops South

West Davidson turned back South Davidson 25-13, 25-15, 25-20 in a nonconference match in Denton on Monday.

Maggie Hughes led the Dragons with nine kills, and Chloe Newsome added five aces and three kills.

Emily Slaydon led the Wildcats with 12 service points and nine kills. Megan Lambeth, Kagan Hill and Danielle Hunt added eight service points apiece for South.

The Wildcats won the JV match 25-19, 19-25, 25-18. Brittany Pope paced the Wildcats with 13 service points, Grace Carter and Kayleigh Hunt had 12 points each, and Destiny Hayes and Savannah Stevenson had 11 points each.

Panthers down North Davidson

Ledford defeated North Davidson 25-18, 25-14, 23-25, 25-22 in nonconference action Monday.

Chloe Barnes had 13 kills, seven blocks and seven service points to lead the Panthers. Siarra Walker had 11 kills and eight service points, and Haylee Leonard had 11 kills and five points.

The Panthers, now 5-1 in the Mid-Piedmont Conference, 12-5 overall, visit Northeast Guilford at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

North won the JV match 25-22, 25-10. Lily Kernodle led the way for the Panthers with four service points.
