Ledford sweeps in MPC
Ledford’s Taylor Freeman won the singles title in the Mid-Piedmont Conference tournament on Tuesday at Southern Guilford, beating teammate Elonah Jones in the championship match.
Both players advanced to the 3-A regional tournament.
Elizabeth Stroup and Logan Allen won the doubles championship and advanced to the regionals.
Ledford will be in action next Tuesday at home in the 3-A dual team state playoffs against an opponent to be determined.
West, Central place several in 2-A regionals
West Davidson’s Madyson Prevette and Callie Herman qualified for the 2-A regionals by reaching the consolation finals of the Central Carolina Conference tournament on Tuesday at the Bingham Tennis Center.
The Dragons’ doubles team of Rachel Tam/Olivia Varner and Central Davidson’s Tori Rhodes/Kacy Surratt reache the consolation finals. Both teams qualified for the regionals.
The consolation finals will be played at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bingham Tennis Center.
North’s Caldwell makes 4-A regionals
North Davidson’s Kara Caldwell finished fourth in the Central Piedmont Conference tournament at Reagan and qualified for the 4-A regional tournament, which will be held on Oct. 19 in Greensboro.
South season concludes
South Davidson’s Katelyn Shelton and the doubles team of Madison Sigmon/Lindsay Miller won first round matches in the Yadkin Valley Conference tournament on Tuesday in Salisbury but fell in the second round as the Wildcats concluded their season.
