Panthers nips Comets
Ledford slipped past Asheboro 4-3 in a Mid-Piedmont Conference clash on Thursday.
Josh Lee scored an unassisted goal to tie things up at 1-1, Johannan Dixon then volleyed a free kick into the box for Tyler Dodson for another goal. Asheboro deadlocked it at 2-2 at the half, then Nick Gonzalez sent in a rebound to make it 3-2. Avery Robinson scored his second goal of the night to tie things back up at 3-all, then Lee found Gonzalez with a geat through ball, and Gonzalez finished to cap the scoring.
Ledford improved to 11-4-2 with the win.
The Panthers’ JVs lost 2-0. Eassa Zatawai had a great game in goal for the Panthers, and Duncan Espendahde and Lucas Rustrican had solid games.
Demons down North
North Davidson dropped a 2-1 Central Piedmont Conference match to Reynolds in Welcome on Thursday.
North, now 0-4-1 in the CPC, 10-5-2 overall, visit Mount Tabor on Friday.
Hornets topple Central
Salisbury defeated Central Davidson 5-1 Wednesday night in a Central Carolina Conference soccer game.
The Hornets took a 2-0 lead by halftime and extended that to 4-0 before Charlie Killebrew scored the Spartans’ lone goal.
Salisbury then tacked on a final goal.
Central Davidson fell to 7-6-2 overall, 4-3 in the CCC. The Spartans travel to East Davidson on Monday. The Hornets improved to 10-2-1 overall, 4-1 in the conference.
