West honors athletes
West Davidson honored its fall athletes in a banquet at the school on Thursday.
In volleyball, Hannah Green and Rachel Hamrick shared MVP honors. Alicia Middleton was named best defensive player, Chloe Newsome was named best offensive player, and Maggie Hughes won the coaches’ award.
In girls’ tennis, Rachel Tam was named team MVP. Rachel Trexler was named most improved, and Ashlee Cruz won the coaches’ award.
In soccer David Monk and Adam Schofield shared MVP honors. Jaime Lopez was named most improved player, T.J. Eller was best offensive player, Jamison Wynn was best defensive player, and Richard Gilbert won the coaches’ award.
In football, Austin Teague won the MVP award. Taylor Beck was named the Charles Leroy Byerly most improved player, Jamieson Myers was best defensive lineman, Tommy Biaso was best offensive lineman, Justin Smith and Zach Pugh shared best defensive player, Kyle Smith was best offensive player, Jordan Heitman won the coaches’ award, and Matthew Allen won the Walter B. McDade Sportsmanship Award.
In boys’ cross country, Logan Herman won the MVP, Caleb Bauguess and Jonathan Makepeace shared the coaches’ award, and Will Talbert and Hunter Beck shared most improved honors.
In girls’ cross country, Callie Wynn was MVP, Daniela Benitez won the coaches’ award and Patience Hunt was named most improved.
