South girls keep rolling

South Davidson’s girls moved to 2-0 in the Yadkin Valley Conference with an easy 77-54 victory at Albemarle on Friday.

South outscored Albemarle 27-14 in the fourth quarter to turn a 33-33 tie at the half into a cake walk. Madi Beeson had 24 points for the Wildcats, who moved to 3-0 overall. Larsen Sigmon added 22 points and five steals, and Addie Grubb chipped in 10 points.

South’s boys continued to struggle, dropping a 73-37 decision to the Bulldogs. Albemarle led 18-10 after one quarter, then erupted for 33 points in the second to take complete control.

Trent Shore paced the Wildcats, who slipped to 0-2 in the YVC, 0-3 overall, with 15 points. Andrew Collins added eight.

South hosts North Moore on Tuesday.

East girls cruise

Bayley Plummer continued her steady play with 20 points to lead the East Davidson girls to a 64-18 nonconference win over Trinity in Thomasville on Friday.

Jordan Isom kicked in 14 points and Madi Hallman had 12 for the Eagles, who improved to 5-0.

East’s boys dropped a 54-40 decision to the Bulldogs. Taylor Booze led the way for the Eagles with 15 points, and Braxton Shetley added nine.

The Eagles host Wheatmore on Tuesday.

North JV girls win

The North Davidson junior varsity girls downed Ledford 41-35 at Pete Jones Gym in Welcome on Friday.

Jordan Teer paced the Knights with 14 points, and Alyssa Doby and Ashlyn Noah added seven apiece.

Makayla Lilly pumped in 14 points for the Knights, who improved to 4-0. Savannah Carter added 12 points.

Ledford, now 4-2, welcomes West Davidson on Tuesday.

In the boys’ game, North nipped the Panthers 58-53 behind 14 points from Caleb Moore and 10 each from Nick Bryan and Kennedy McKoy.

North’s boys moved to 4-0 with the win. The Knights host Asheboro on Tuesday.

South JV girls fall

The South Davidson junior varsity girls dropped a 53-29 decision to Gray Stone Day on Friday.

Danielle Hunt poured in 14 points for the Wildcats, who dropped to 0-1.

South entertains North Moore on Tuesday.

OGMS girls top Tyro

The Oak Grove Middle School girls edged Tyro Middle 35-33 in Tyro on Thursday.

Olivia Sharpe paced the Dragons with 13 points, Carlee Yancey added 11 and Kelly Crisp nine.

Tyro visits Ledford Middle on Monday.
