Feb. 9 Basketball roundup


Mount Tabor jumped out to a 39-12 lead at the half and cruised to a 73-37 Central Piedmont Conference win over visiting North Davidson on Friday.

Brandon Easter had 11 points for the Knights, who fell to 1-7 in the CPC, 8-13 overall.

In the girls’ game, Mount Tabor outscored North 19-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 54-38 victory over North. Lauren Ramsey had 11 points and Alayasia Lindsay 10 for the Knights, who dipped to 0-8 in the CPC, 5-14 overall.

South Davidson girls win again

South Davidson’s girls crushed Chatham Central 57-16 in a Yadkin Valley Conference tilt in Denton on Friday.

Madison Sigmon had 12 points and five steals for the Wildcats, who stayed perfect in the YVC at 14-0, 18-2. Hunter Sigmon and Madi Beeson had 10 points apiece for South.

South’s boys dropped a 68-67 heartbreaker to Chatham Central on Friday. Trent Shore led the Wildcats with 23 points, Travis Gallimore added 16 and Andrew Collins 12.

South fell to 2-12, 2-17. The Wildcats visit South Stanly on Tuesday.

Sheets girls romp

The Sheets Memorial Christian School girls cruised to a 44-8 victory over visiting Franklin Heights on Friday.

Sarah Gainey had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 15 steals to pace the Eagles, who improved to 11-7. Laura Blinson added 10 points and 17 rebounds, and Jalyn McGee had eight points. Sheets travels to Rockwell Christian on Monday.

Sheets JV girls survive

The Sheets Memorial Christian School junior varsity girls nipped Franklin Heights 18-15 Friday at Sheets.

Jalyn McGee had 12 points to lead the Eagles.

The Sheets JV boys downed Franklin Heights 55-30.

Sage Leonard poured in 15 points to lead the Eagles, who improved to 17-3. Sheets travels to Rockwell Christian on Monday.

Lexington JV girls win

The Lexington junior varsity girls defeated Salisbury 43-31 Friday in Lexington.

Zakiyyah Hardin led the way for the Jackets with 24 points, and Angelica Rice pumped in 16.

North JV boys stay hot

The North Davidson junior varsity boys improved to 16-1 with a 69-54 victory over Mount Tabor in Welcome on Friday.

Kennedy McKoy led a balanced attack for North with 17 points, while Josh Thomas added 16 and Caleb Moore 12.

The Knights welcome West Forsyth on Tuesday.

East JV girls win

The East Davidson junior varsity girls defeated Central Davidson 36-28 Friday.

Kendall Simmons paced the Eagles with 15 points, and Jessica Ferguson added 14. Briana Robertson led the Spartans with 10 points.

South JV girls fall

The South Davidson junior varsity girls suffered a 42-29 setback to Chatham Central on Friday.

Savannah Stevenson paced the Wildcats with eight points, six rebounds and seven steals.

South wraps up its season at home against North Rowan on Friday.

West Davidson JV girls romp

The West Davidson junior varsity girls tripped up Thomasville 51-24 Friday in Tyro.

Patience Hunt and Casey Crisp had eight points apiece to lead the Dragons.
