East Davidson girls move on
East Davidson’s girls knocked out top seed High Point Andrews in the second round of the 2-A state playoffs in High Point on Wednesday.
The Raiders grabbed a 21-10 lead early in the second quarter, but the Eagles closed the period on a 10-0 run to get within 21-20 at the half. East grabbed the lead for good early in the third quarter, and went in front by as many as 10. Andrews got within five, but could not make a serious run in the final minutes. Lori Morgan helped secure the win by hitting 6-of-9 free throws, and Madi Hallman was 3-for-4.
Morgan paced the Eagles with 22 points, Hallman added 10 and Bayley Plummer had her sixth triple-double of the year with 12 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.
The Eagles (19-9), the No. 8 seed in their section, will travel to No. 4 Cuthbertson on Friday.
Jackets’ season ends
Lexington fell 83-41 to Cuthbertson in the second round of the 2-A state playoffs on Wednesday in Waxhaw.
The Yellow Jackets ended their season with an 11-17 record. Lexington did not report any details to The Dispatch.
