Jackets win big

Lexington rolled to a 5-0 nonconference win over Parkland at Lexington on Friday.

Katie DeZego scored four goals for the Jackets, who moved to 2-1. Haley Robinson scored the other Lexington goal to go along with an assist, and Sidney Parker, Priscilla Delcid and Angelica Velasco had one assist apiece. Velasco and Libni Iglesias combined for the shutout in goal. Lexington hosts South Rowan at 6 p.m. Monday.

Spartans cruise

Central Davidson romped to a 5-0 nonconference victory over Wheatmore at Central in its season opener on Friday.

Freshman Alex Myers led the Spartans with three goals, and Haley Westervelt had three assists. Carly Spainhour added a goal and an assist, Sydney Woods scored a goal and Kayla Semonco added one assist.

Keeper Chandler Young had 12 saves for the shutout for the Spartans, who visit Bishop McGuinness on Monday.
