Eagles tame Cowboys

East Davidson shut down Southwest Guilford 5-1 in nonconference action in High Point on Tuesday.

Cory Waldroup picked up the win for the Eagles, who improved to 3-1. Tyler Stroup was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, and Braxton Shetley had a hit and drove in a run. East hosts Randleman at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Minors cruise

The North Davidson Middle School minor team defeated Ledford 14-2 Monday in its season opener.



Jacob Laflesh picked up the win for North, and helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs. Tanner Jackson was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

North will face South Davidson on Thursday.
