Warriors blank East

Wheatmore shut down East Davidson 7-0 in a nonconference tilt in Trinity on Friday.

Haley Ray took the loss for the Eagles. Selena Metcalf doubled for East, and Bayley Plummer tripled.

East travels to Lexington at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Panthers turn back Storm

Ledford opened its Mid-Piedmont Conference slate with a key 5-3 victory over Southern Guilford in Wallburg on Friday.

Meg Everhart got the win in the circle, striking out eight along the way. She also went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Panthers, who moved to 1-0 in the MPC, 3-2 overall. Bayleigh Griffith and Destiny DeBerry had a hit and an RBI each for Ledford.

The Panthers visit Northeast Guilford at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
