Ragsdale tops Central

Ragsdale scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning, and that proved to be the difference as the Tigers turned back Central Davidson 9-3 in a nonconference game in Jamestown on Wednesday.

Josh Moore led the Spartans at the plate with two hits, and Trevor Nanney doubled.

Nanney took the loss on the mound.

Chatham beats South

Trailing 2-0 heading to bottom of the third inning, South Davidson gave up 19 runs en route to a 24-0 loss in Yadkin Valley Conference action at West Montgomery on Thursday.

Chatham Central scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 22-1 Yadkin Valley Conference victory over South Davidson in Bear Creek on Tuesday.

South slipped to 0-5 in the YVC, 0-7 overall. The Wildcats host the defending state champion South Stanly at 5 p.m. Friday.

Sheets drops nailbiter

Tabernacle of Monroe held off Sheets Memorial Christian School 8-6 Thursday.

Jake Simmons started on the mound and recorded 12 strikeouts for the Eagles, who dipped to 1-2. Simmons and Evan Gurner combined on a two-hitter, but combined to issue 11 walks.

The Eagles welcome White Plains Christian at 4 p.m. Friday at Reeds.

Lexington falls to North Rowan

Lexington was ahead 3-1 in the top of the third inning but North Rowan exploded for 15 runs in the bottom of the third and put away the Yellow Jackets 18-3 in four innings Thursday night.

Ty Hill was 2-for-2 for Lexington and Antonio Evans doubled in a run.

Lexington hosts East Davidson at 5 p.m. Friday at Holt-Moffitt Field.
