Haley Westervelt, a sophomore midfielder from Central Davidson High School (Lexington, N.C.) and Erik Clark, a senior midfielder from Wando High School (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) have been selected as the NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Players of the Week.

Westervelt is a key contributor to Central Davidson’s 10-1-1 record, the best start in school history. She scored eight goals and registered six assists in the Spartans’ last four games. Central Davidson outscored their opponents 23-2 during this stretch and the sophomore midfielder leads the team with 18 goals and 15 assists.

Westervelt is also excelling in the classroom where she is ranked in the top ten percentile of her class. Westervelt’s head coach, Chad Hench, described her as a player who keeps opponents on their heels and highlighted her ability to take over a game.

“She is small in stature and usually marked tightly and physically by our opponents, but still manages to make the plays when needed,” Hench said.
