North majors romp

North Davidson Middle School’s majors squad rolled to a 16-0 victory over North Davie at North Davie on Wednesday in the first round of the middle school tournament.

Nick Tiller got the win for North, which improved to 15-0. Austin Beck was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, Joe Butts had two hits, three runs and drove in two runs, Jed Bryant went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Ben Holt had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

North hosts South Davie in the semifinals at Welcome School at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

North minors win

The North Davidson Middle School minors team defeated Thomasville 7-4 Wednesday in Welcome.

Matthew Rodgers, Andrew Weaver and Jacob LaFlesh pitched for North. Tanner Jackson went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs, Cameron Fishel doubled and Trevor Robertson drove in a pair of runs.

North will play in the second round of the tournament in Welcome at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Patriots receive honors

Union Grove Christian School’s baseball team received four postseason awards this week in the NCCSA.

Tyler Odell and Tyler Sellers were named all-state, and Jordan Barkley and Eric Salernitano were named second-team all-region.
